Two possible contracts, how do I deal with it?

After a bit of a dry spell, I now have 2 possible contracts. I am not sure how to deal with this situation. No offers have been made yet but may be imminent. Both contracts are similar rate and length

Company 1 interviewed me last week, I am waiting to hear from them.

Company 2 called me this morning to check availability, I've worked for them before, so once they confirm they need me, I'd be straight in. Confirmation expected within a day or two.

I'd rather work for company 2, but worried that company 1 might make an offer before 2. Can I put off accepting until I hear from 2?

Of course I might get neither. I'm a bit stressed so apologies if this is a stupid question

    It's not a stupid question.
Clearly company 1 are not interested, if you dont hear anything immediately, its a non starter, so forget it.
It's always good to be in demand , and Company 2 sound like they want to do business with you, but why a two day delay ? surely if you have worked with them before you should be straight in there without any delay ? somethings not right, I would go with company 1 if I were you

Stop stressing and wait till you get firm offers

I want my account deleted and all of my information removed, I want to invoke my right to be forgotten.
