    Contracts in Spain

Anyone know of a site or agent that specialises in contracts in Spain?

I see nobody has replied, but that may be because it is too late in the day, today.

While waiting for someone who knows what they are talking about, here are some links. If during your own research you find better or more up-to-date answers, please inform the author. I am sure they will be grateful.

A search on google like this: "site:forums.contractoruk.com madrid" or "site:forums.contractoruk.com spain" may find threads with more information.

Please do post back anything you learn for the benefit of those of us who live in the cold, windy, wet, north west of Europe. TIA.

Spain has practically shut down, with 45% youth unemployment and over 20% unemployment of their workable population it's gone to the dogs (economically speaking). I worked there for a good few years and I can tell you outside the 'odd' contracts in Madrid and Barcelona there is zilch, nada, zero, nothing... Most Spanish IT jobs are poorly paid with the exception of some contracts. A lot of Spanish have\are leaving Spain to find work in other European countries. Southern Europe has the sun but not the jobs!

        Try jobserve

I see three pages of Spanish contracts. Contact the agents.

Most English speaking contracts in Europe are posted there. You can then contact the agents.

The traditional biggie for IT jobs is infojobs. For instance, typing in "Python" will bring back 85 vacancies, "Java" brings back 1378, and "dba" 80. "SAP" brings back 1195 vacancies, but I think a lot of them are accounting style jobs. You will soon see the regular hirers and employers. But the concept of "contracting" isn't quite the same. There are short term contract jobs, but they don't tend to pay a premium. You may be better searching out a Consultor role, if you're after a larger whack. Also, expect to be located in Madrid or Barcelona, where the jobs are, but the accommodation is quite a bit more expensive.

Another option, if you work in a niche area, is to search Twitter. For instance if you're a Zend developer, search on "Zend Spain" OR "Zend ofertas" or "Zend empleo"
