Anyone ever have any grief for surfing the web when working?

I always wonder about this. I see a lot of people posting on here (me included) during the day which I assume means your all in work.

Anyone ever have any grief (including non-renewals etc) because client worked out you were wasting 'some' time?

Obviously, not talking about dodgy surfing which is obviously going to get you into trouble...

Or dont they care as long as you get things done?

If you don't take the piss I don't see a problem with it as I still refer to the Oracle that is Google as one of the firs port of calls for problem solving, the ClientCo I am working at has a fairly relaxed approach to internet with social networking sites like Facebook/Twitter etc and webmail allowed

I want my account deleted and all of my information removed, I want to invoke my right to be forgotten.

So it appears does my current client - its not blocked anyway. Although I did get a blocked page for a pretty non-dodgy site.

Completely different to my last place (where I was permie) where EVERYTHING was blocked pretty much. Nightmare when even work stuff was blocked for some reason. It was Defence industry though so I guess they gotta be like this.

I get more grief from ms doodab for surfing the web at home. Primarily because she wants to get on ******* facebook all the time.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

Buy her a cheap Android tablet, perfect for mindless surfing and she can keep all her recipes on it when she is cooking

If she hadn't broken several of the computers already it wouldn't be a problem. I'm not buying her another one.

                    True love never dies

Thing with surfing at work I certainly know who surfs a lot and also the habits of most people i.e. some will always have news on, other will always be on facebook even if it is just a few mins at lunch. Other people will be just as clued about my posting habits. They all know I post on here for example and take the mick about it.

Be aware that whatever you think you are sneakily surfing someone will know. Just because the client is relaxed about it your fellow permies may certainly not be and you are much more likely to get in to trouble through a disgruntled colleague dobbing you in it than the client flagging it.

You are starting a new contract aren't you. Be squeeky clean for the first couple of months, get a good rep then you can start falling in to bad habits
