How much do you save for your kids futures?

    Following on from pensions.

Do you put much aside for your kids future and what do you do?

We put away a £1000 per year per child and pay £50 per month into a child trust fund. The £1000 per year goes into a five year bond which the plan is to rollover every five years so they get a pay out at 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20.

I'm not sure if this is too much or too little?

How much do you put up your nose each month? Try investing that in your kids instead.

I bet all my kids money on futures.

              Yes it's true: gold futures.

Saving - but certainly not into a CTF or Junior ISA - I do not want to see my hard earned handed over to my offspring's control at 18 only to helplessly watch it all disappear on beer + Ibiza at short notice.

Cynical? Maybe. But I will be having to pay uni fees + accommodation in 15 years time and I know what I would have done with a cash lump sum handed over to me shortly after finishing my A-Levels ....

All savings are going into our own ISAs. Offspring will be very heavily bribed (unknowingly with their own money) to get through all their necessary exams into Uni.

I think I'd save more for retirement.

Your kids can get a loan for university. Try getting a loan for your retirement...
