    He's a Very Naughty Boy

BBC to dramatise Life Of Brian controversy in new film.

A BBC comedy drama that explores the controversy surrounding the release of Monty Python's 1979 film, Life of Brian, has been commissioned.

The comedy movie revolved around a man called Brian Cohen, who was mistaken for the Messiah.

At the time, church leaders protested over the production claiming it mocked Christ and it was subsequently banned in several countries.

Holy Flying Circus will be broadcast in the autumn on BBC Four.

I loved that film and remember being allowed to stay up late to watch the original Monty Python programmes back in the late 60's. Will the 'comedy drama' be as funny I wonder?

The Life of Brian is, surprisingly, an important part of German culture. They love that film here.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

In Dieburg near where I live it was banned along with that Mel Gibson Christ film. I remember going to see it (in Chlemsford) when it came out and had a couple of the weirdy bierdy bible freaks next to me with their collection of pamphlets, they tutted and scowled, I wet my pants with laughter.

I remember, very shortly after the film was released, having to stand on a very cold and windy Parade square, for a Remembrance Sunday address by the Padre.
He was croaking away, quietly and completely unintelligibly, through an incredibly ineffective PA system.
Some wag standing towards the back could not resist a swift "Speak Up!" at which the vast majority of the assembled soldiery convulsed in fits of laughter, and a great deal of the poignancy of the event was lost for ever.

                Happy Days!
