    Scottish contractors' limited companies

Do contractors north of the border run Scottish limited companies?

I do but my accountant is also based in Scotland and he provides registered office facilities too.

To be honest, i think it comes down to your registered office location and I know some Jock contractors who use companies incorporated in England.

I think this is correct, my ltd company number has "SC" at the start of it, and I think this was triggered by the address of my registred office - I don't remember filling in anything else, and the registration was done on the normal Companies House web, not any Scottish version.

Is a Scottish LTD somehow different to an English one, and if so does it offer advantages?
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

I'm wondering if they are cheaper.

It's been a while since I did one, but I seem to remember that if you went through any of these registration agents, rather than doing it yourself, that Scottish companies were more expensive.

I know a number of contractors in the Oil & Gas industries have them as they use Aberdeen based accts who provide a registered address.

I did briefly but their service level was crapola. Not cos they were Scottish, just crap.

                  YMMV as always.

I have a little SC on the company number.

Not really much of a difference just now but the way things are going I will be paying 0% corporation tax, 60% income tax and 10% council tax. The SNP's brand of socialism scares the crap out of me.
