    Notice Periods....

...if a 12 month contract is ended prematurely by the Client what's the situation with notice periods: If the Contractor has a one month notice period but the contract is prematurely terminated can the Client still take another contract during that period?

I doubt it - IMHO you are bound to work until the final day of the notice period whoever served the notice (otherwise whats the point of the notice period)

          Nope,

You are bound to work on the contract untill the notice period ends, otherwise whats the point in having one.

Having said that talk to the client. If they are terminating they may well be happy to save a few extra quid by letting you go sooner.

Don't fecking tell 'em. If you're being paid to not attend their site then stuff 'em!

              That will be £150 + V.A.T
If paid before next market day then deduct 10%

Pocket the money and enjoy the spring weather. If you can't do that, get another contract. After all, who's to know?

As is always the case. What does it say in the contract? There is your answer.

On the other hand have you thought of speaking to the current client. You are about to save him/her a tidy packet by not requiring them to pay you for the notice period.
