    We're doomed...

    To Paraphrase Ben Bradshaw on the Today programme:

    "There's nothing to fear from H5N1 flu"....

    Oh Dear(tm)....

    I wasn't too worried until now.

    Think I'll go and buy some surgical masks.
    Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.
    threadeds website, and here's my blog.

      I thought reptiles would be immune?

        Good point. Maybe you should cut down on the raw poultry for a while, but then what would you eat?

        Cows = bse/cjd
        Sheep = scrapie
        Pigs = dodgy transgenic malarkey
        Goats = probably something bad there too, bouncy-itis?
        Fish = mercury poisoning

        And I can't see an esteemed alien lizard such as yourself living on fruit, nuts and berries picked in the wild. Just wouldn't go with the image.

          Did anybody else read this as "bouncy-tits"?

            D'oh. I have just been for a little trap one action on the strength of that.
            I am not qualified to give the above advice!

              Just a thought

              Is the usual response when dealing with contagion amongst animals (ie. kill them all) really a sensible option? How is immunity to be built up if you kill every animal that you think might possibly be infected?
              Just thinking about this with the news that there were 9 deaths from measles this year so far (I hope that dickhead who started the scare about MMR is satisfied) and it's likely to rise.
              Just a thought
              Why not?

                New Zealand lamb. NZ has never had a case of scrapie.
                Argentinian beef. No bse. And it's Aberdeen-Angus stock so it's good beef.
                Wild Alaskan salmon. Not farmed.

                  It's all Darwinian... just what this country needs -a plague to sort the wheat from the chaff (& get rid of all the oldies cluttering up the roads / Sainsburys etc)
