    Archived data in the brain.

It's always seemed strange to me, how the brain works. Yesterday, travelling through central London I saw a lot of those hybrid cyclist/single taxi things. I knew there was a special word for that vehicle and that they originate in Asia (either Vietnam or Thailand? *), but I couldn't instantly think of that word. Of course 20 minutes later, the word - Rickshaw - came to mind. Does anyone else have this delay in the thought process, or is it just my senile brain?

    * edit, it appears they originated in Japan

I had the same problem yesterday. It had rained and as we walked we smelt the air which always has a distinctive whiff.

There's a name for that i said to the group. I then spent 20 minutes trying to remember it before asking someone to give me a smart phone so i could google it.

    Petrichor.

Happens all the time. At least the recollection usually gets there eventually, one day it won't

Me too, but it feels more like I caught it than learned it.

God, that is surreal, seriously - I was thinking exactly the same driving through London yesterday. Only the phrase I was trying to remember was "tuk tuk", which is what they call the things in Thailand.

Surely tuk tuk's are motorised, and the name derives from the sound made by the two-stroke engine?
