Putin says U.S. is a "parasite" on global economy

    Well said Mr Putin,

(Reuters) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin accused the United States Monday of living beyond its means "like a parasite" on the global economy and said dollar dominance was a threat to the financial markets.

"They are living beyond their means and shifting a part of the weight of their problems to the world economy," Putin told the pro-Kremlin youth group Nashi while touring its lakeside summer camp some five hours drive north of Moscow.

"They are living like parasites off the global economy and their monopoly of the dollar," Putin said at the open-air meeting with admiring young Russians in what looked like early campaigning before parliamentary and presidential polls.

America gave a lot of great inventions to the world recently such as Internet, without venture capital available there a lot of companies that do free stuff would have never appeared and the web as we know would not exist, instead we'll have AOL BBS tulip.

What did Russia do positive in the last couple of decades? It's not even selling products that it actually produced - it's just a chance that lots of oil and gas there, majority of which is swapped for products made in the West with America playing prominent role.

Ironically big reduction in consumption in the West in general and USA in particular (especially oil) would cause massive drop in price of commodities that Putin is so proud of.

Imported my then main customer into a Russian operation so I had to do loads of work to port their front office apps. Ok, small market but very positive for my bank balance.

They invented fast food chains now we're all fat and shall die prematurely as a result. Chee thanks.

They've made war almost a commercial business. Chee thanks.

Above all for the last 50+ years they've been the largest consumer of natural resources in so much 3 planet earths worth would be required to sustain their level of consumption.

They are at fault and they want to take the rest of us down with them. How is it the UK with it's long history is seduced by this new kid on the block high on smack?

They have the highest standard of living and they are the largest western country.

The stuff that they sell - microprocessors for example are way underpriced, what the fook would you do if they doubled CPU prices? Most of the world lives off USA via exports into that country, so that Americans get in debt to pay other countries that export there!

If USA could not get debt half of Chinese products would not be sold.

IKEA nearly quit Russia due to bribes. What glasses do you mean? Apart from a handful of successful IT companies (Kaspersky, Yandex) the only other Russia exports that are not natural resources are old lamps that apparently better at reproducing sound than transistors or something like this. Basically nothing.

They? I assume they are 5% of the population while the other 95% concern themselves where next month's money shall come from.

FAA partial shut-down due to lack of funding

4,000 FAA employees likely won't have work for the next five weeks. Projects are stopped, putting an additional tens of thousands of construction workers out of work. 70,000 constructions workers are jobless also after 200 airport construction projects have been stopped and the FAA says it is losing 25 million dollars per day in tax money from the airlines.

They'll have halved their currency with QE3 by the time such a decision is made, effects me how?

Think there are other places in the world where silicon is available, Saudi for example, they've loads of the stuff.

Majority of people in this country who are lucky enough to have a job don't have much cash left at the end of the month.

Are you really an idiot? Not many people live high live, but if you compare prices on basic things like food, fuel, real estate then USA is much more affordable than UK with less taxes.

Very few countries that export a lot of natural resources (ie stuff they did not create themselves, often mined with western equipment - Russia no exception) are smart in how they manage wealth - some choose to buy foot ball clubs, others like Norway invest cleverly and keep the cash.

Price of bottle of vodka in Norway - £30 (Source: alcohol in norway - that's in 2011)

Price of bottle of vodka in Russia - from £2.

That's depressing. Is this a depression?

Jealous we can't do the same? Oh no wait we did, we spent ours on socialism experiments. Where can I get my refund, I'd rather we bought a football club instead.

USA is #1 in Nobel Prize winners, a lot of fundamental research is still happening there - pretty much most of IT stuff you use is thanks to USA you ungrateful piece of tulip.

The murder rate there is pretty low, firearms offences are also very low for a country with 200 mln units of firearms owned by the people.

Next time you buy your Apple toy (we ordered one today for our new designer) then consider that without USA you'd be using a PC (also American).
