What has Prescott been up to lately?

This week, from the Independent: Planning permission for a new 22,000-seater stadium for Brighton and Hove Albion has been quashed after Prescott made a mistake on his letter of approval, saying the site near Falmer was in the "built-up" area of Brighton. The planning application will now have to be reheard, a process that takes many months.

    Notes about Prescott

    Prescott in his restraints

    1. The people of Hull elected him as their Member of Parliament.

    2. The members of the Labour party elected him as deputy leader of the party.

    3. The people of the UK elected Labour, with Prescott as second-in-command, to run our nation.

Well, you know all those crippling public- and private- sector strikes that we haven't been having lately? That's because Prescott has a better handle on the unions than any top minister since, ooh, the fifties probably. Well done him.

      Shop Steward

That's because the Rt.Hon. John Prescott used to be a shop steward for the T & G W when he was working as a waiter for Cunard. Those days he used to be a true socialist, not a 2 Jags/2 mansions senior member of Cabinet. Another member of the Labour Cabinet, Mr Alan Johnson (Trade & Industry) worked in a sorting office, was the General Secretary of the Post Office Union and well-known for defending his fellow workers on TV during several Post Office strikes in the 80's and early 90's. He is now pro-business and tries to appear respectable. Another wolf in sheep's clothing, another former leftie with a huge chip on his shoulder against the 'better off' classes. God help us.
