Migration to the UK rose 20 per cent to 239,0000 last year, figures show - Telegraph

The increase from 198,000 in 2009 was fuelled by a fall in the number of people leaving the UK and goes against the Government's pledge to bring net migration down to the tens of thousands by 2015.

Long-term immigration was 575,000, similar to the levels seen since 2004, while long-term emigration fell to 336,000 from 427,000 in 2008, estimates from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed.

Study remained the most common reason for those coming to the UK, with three in four of the 228,000 who come to the UK for study coming from outside the EU.

More reason to fill up on BTL properties (or to get the fook out of here)!

I wonder whether there will ever be 'full' employment in the UK again, with the whole of the EU able to come here.

Whe are students included in the migration figures?
And anyway, isn't it good news that more people are choosing to study in the UK?
Education is one of ours successful industries after all.
        Hard Brexit now!

Mostly outside the EU, so I would guess India, Pakistan, etc.

          Plenty cheapness, much free NHS/Education/benefits.

Did the government actually change or is Mandy and Bliar just operating it from a billionaire's yacht instead?

Anyone got any stats on student numbers from abroad?

The Chinese must be making up 50% of foreign students these days.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Problem is that we have too many students currently in the system so it is pointless to allow every foreign student to stay after course completion using the argument that we are cherry picking the best and utilising them fully

Lots of non EU students arrive on a short term visa and then, funnily enough, don't go back. It's the easiest way in with little chance of being thrown out.

You them suddenly become a UK resident, originally from XXXXXX and Bob's your Indian uncle, it's all laid on for you.

Do you object to good looking Eastern European females coming to live and work in this country?

Only to the ones that say "No".
