    Edinburgh tram

Can any of the resident Jocks shed any light on this:

BBC News - Edinburgh trams: Plan to stop at Haymarket 'bonkers'

Why are they spending £700m on a tram that doesn't work in the city centre?

Dodgy is wrong - it is because they are stupid.

Anyway, the info in that link is superseded - see the following -

Unbelievably so. Even terminating short of where it should it'll need to be subsidised and will run at a loss.

It should at least provide some joke material for next year's festival.

Let's not throw all our toys out of a tram.

Stopping at Haymarket is just mental, turfing out all these tourists at the first stop when they hit the city right across from all the pissed up tramps that sit at the public toilets. And god knows why the picked that route into the city, it is hardly pleasing on the eye the deepest west end along the train line.

They have to finish it now and finish it right down to ocean terminal no matter how much it costs, there is no point in having it half finished. The worst part is the 25 bus did pretty much the whole route for a 1.30 flat fare and getting to the airport was well catered for with private bus routes.

Maybe the Edinburgh people never wanted it but they never voted against it when it came to the ballot box so they shut their traps, put up with it and pay for it no matter how long it takes.

If it stops at haymarket it stops a 3 minute walk from the front door

I'm sure ze Germans would have completed it on budget if the council worked directly with them rather than making up some entity of a company called TIE, for what for why?
