As he has been proven innocent by a jury of his peers, on his behalf I demand an apology from the local Left Footers for slurring his good name!

I believe that the peculiarly Scottish verdict of "not proven" does not make him innocent. AIUI it means "we know you did it, we just do not have enough evidence to convict".
            Just saying like.

Quite clearly an assault, but aggravated by religious prejudice? One witness said he heard 'Fenian Bastard', defendant says nope never said that, no other witnesses heard the comment, even though plenty of witnesses close to the incident. NL even said he didn't hear it.

He asked Mr Lennon if he heard anything being said and he replied no and that the atmosphere had been noisy and he was pulled away quickly.
You can see why 'Not Proven' has been returned (doesn't mean they don't think he didn't do it, just that they don't have enough evidence to say either way), still should have been done for assault though. The guy's a ******* arse.

That's enough about Lennon. What about the attacker?

Shirley the PF could have worked out that the aggrivated might have been difficult to get with only one witnessand just put him down for an assault. I take it he will just get off with the assault now?

BBC has it that he offered PF a plea of guilty to both BOP and the Assault if they removed the religious bit and they said no.

Scots law, I'm not sure if the assault is a different offence, if so they can just prosecute him again for that I'd imagine without trying to pin the religious bit on him.
