Booking a train ticket in December is not possible..

    how no?

I thought booking in advance was the whole point yet I'm unable to do so.

Bugger me £129 from Glasgow to Bath, a 10 hour trip.

To allow engineering work to be organised British Rail has always used a rolling 12 week booking period. It falls apart though as weekend engineering only needs to be confirmed 10 weeks in advance so you often have weekends when you can't immediately buy tickets.

I thought you were earning those big euros and this was equivalent of couple of hours of your rate?
