Best way to sell a car

I am selling a car soon - its about 11 years old and worth about £1000(Peugot 406 estate - 135k miles but recon engine at 80k, minor oil leak but generally in good condition for age). I am thinking of putting it on ebay. Any other suggestions?

Save yourself the bother and the meathead knocking your door down in a months time demanding a full refund coz it just died, torch it and claim the insurance.

Put it in a local car auction. Quick sale pretty much guarenteed and no comeback. You might not get quite as much for it as E-Bay or a private sale but it's a lot less hassle.

                £1000 ...are you sure?

Is that leak actually a leak from the high perssure fuel pump (I'm assuming it's diesel as with that many miles a petrol 406 would be woth squat). If it's from the fuel pump, like mine was before I scrapped it (178K), than kiss goodbye to that £1K.

Unless you find someone to replace the HP fuel pump seals for next to nothing. The seals themselves are probably less than a tenner. The problem hardly any garage will touch them becuase they are a pain with people coming back after they fail again. Most, if not all, will direct you to a "diesel specialist", who will want the lions share of that £1K to fix it.

I am just guessing though, and it could just be an oil leak.

Edit - I've just had a look and dealer prices do seem to be around £1K. But remember they have to give 6 month warranty.

Minus their £49.95 'admin fee'. Don't mention that in their tulipty song do they?
