Solving problems while you are asleep

Can anyone here actually do that ?

or is it just that you are half awake and thinking about it in a sort of semi conscious way?

I had a couple of corkers recently and I have convinced myself that I sorted them out in my sleep. I wonder if its possible

I wouldn't surprised if what seems like a really great idea when you're half out of it mostly turns out to be a pretty carp idea once you're awake. Luckily we usually forget these brilliant ideas.

Indeed, well not asleep exactly, but I do sometimes find solutions pop into the noggin when you aren't concentrating on solving them.

You know how you get those dreams of drinking water after a night out on the sauce, I had a very hot curry the other week and was having dreams about putting out fires before I woke up.

Oh yes. we have all had the 'rogue boner' experience, when you are sitting on the bus thinking about Heisenbergs uncertainty principle. and you suddenly sprout a rogue boner
then you spend the next few bus-stops desperately thinking about barbed wire and trying not to make eye-contact with the middle-aged woman opposite who thinks you are paying her some kind of compliment

Desperately thinking about barbed wire will not sort that problem with some.

I had a dream a few months ago about spreadsheets embedded in spreadsheets

There was a real benefit to it too... I just can't remember what it was!!

Years ago I spent days trying to get some code to work properly but no joy. I actually dreamt the solution, clear lines of code in my dream that worked.
