Yeh. As someone whos both grandfathers worked underground (and, incidentally, died ultimately because of it), it does make you grateful that your sitting in an office probably earning (even relatively speaking) ten times what they ever did working in dangerous conditions....

Maybe a bit harsh!

Havent seen the page, so I cant really comment too well, just seen this quote in the article though that describes it as one comment:

“In a boost to the failing jobs market in South Wales, 4 new vacancies have been created in the Swansea area from Monday!”

Just sounds like a joke in very poor taste, rather like the jokes after the london bombings:

What's the difference between cockneys and smarties? Smarties dont explode in the tube.

Both are in very poor taste perhaps, but one thing brits are known for internationally is our dry and sometimes extremely dark sense of humour. Rather than falling to the ground and wailing, crying for jesus, like americans when they run out of crisps, Brits tend to make light of a situation and instead call each other

for crying over spilt crisps.






Not saying I agree with the comments, just that some perspective is needed on them.









On the subject, Im shocked that we still have mines that are so primative in operation in this country. Especially after recent mining disasters and H+S, one would assume this wouldnt happen in this country.

Those poor families! At least they died in an hounerable way. I would prefer an untimely death to be one where the deceased did something courageous, like saving a life, or noteworthy, like feeding their family, rather than a senseless death such as being stabbed to death in the street.
