Huge gas fields discovered under Blackpool

An area in northwest England may contain 200 trillion cubic feet of shale gas, putting it in the same league as some of the vast shale-gas plays that have transformed the U.S. energy industry...would be enough to meet U.K. gas demand for 64 years.
The only downside seems to be that Blackpool will get more earthquakes than normal and will disappear into a giant sink hole and that the water will taste funny. And that carbon thing.

Cuadrilla's announcement could lead to sharp upward revisions in estimates of Britain's shale-gas potential.
    Boomed.

Winters are getting colder, just promise all folk in Blackpool free gas for home use for the next 64 years and all will be well...

So that's why they built that big land drilling rig there. There must be loads of gas or oil under Paris.

You've got to be fracking kidding.

Cuadrilla Resources began testing for gas on the Fylde Coast in March, using a technique known as "fracking".
Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it

Could be massive, 2000 decent jobs + same number again in surrounding economy, sounds good to me. Don't sweat a bit of earth shaking, nothing to worry about....probably.

Dunno. Not watched either. It was used (and originated) in Battlestar Galactica though, since the late 70s.

Originally originated with Yosemite Sam in the Bugs Bunny cartoons as one of his muttered grumblings whenever Bugs got the better of him. Goes back to 1945.
