    Legless

As in without a leg to stand on.

For the first time in 7 years of contracting, I've experienced how utterly powerless a contractor is.

Made the rookie mistake of robustly and publically pointing out how clientco's staggeringly inefficient legal team are endangering a project delivery.

result : immediate escalation to CIO and public slapdown for the scummy contractor.

Live and learn, am surprised at being surprised, if that makes sense. I am now going to go and get properly legless.

Its a risk outside your control.

Document it, quietly highlight it by throwing the updated document to the PM possibly without even mentioning why you've done it and move onward.

Be grateful they did not throw you into jail or hired an assassin.

whs, and you should never ' robustly and publically point out ' the utility or lack thereof of any permie at all, in fact of anybody. It's rude, ineffective, boorish and can only get you in deepest poo. Better to give people the tools to demonstrate their own incompetence.

Leave the job of enlightening the muppets up top to the permies, or MF. He loves kicking up a fuss then getting kicked out on his ear.

If you feel you have to raise these issues, do it via some other scapegoat.

Remember the contractor's motto: Always be invoicing.

You can't do that if you're canned.
Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it

Don't listen to the nay sayers, you did the right thing. It's your job, as an external, to point out where the client is going wrong, without fear or favour. Obviously, they couldn't allow the permies to see you "getting away with it" - hence the dressing down - but if they'd been really annoyed, they'd just have escorted you off site.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

I don't agree; I don't think that criticism of another team should be made in public for others to hear; it's not professional; for a start, you don't know what other things that team has to prioritise at any time.

                  Was past caring years ago.

Each job is filled with the blind leading the blind. As long as you don't laugh at them because of their disability and get out of the way when they are moving close to you it all works out quite well I find.

+1 if its outside your control document it but don't make any fuss at all about it. Unless you've got an explicit remit to highlight issues don't just

                    Keep invoicing and carry on.
