    Presumably the costs come from fencing, road closures, policing, etc, with the actual bonfire costing tuppence. Sad really. Can't a group of people be trusted to gather around a great big fire without chucking themselves on?

      Yes, quite. I used to go that bonfire when I was kid.

      Although it's become chav city in recent years. Or maybe, I'm getting old.
