    Why Germany 'owes' Greece

There are more Porsche Cayennes registered in Greece than taxpayers declaring an income of 50,000 euros (£43,800) or more, according to research by Professor Herakles Polemarchakis, former head of the Greek prime minister’s economic department.

So the Greeks spend their way into oblivion buying German sports cars (amongst goodness knows what else) just to bailed out by Germany..

I suppose what goes around comes around

Erm, hang on, I don't think I've ever declared more than 50k euros either, simply because everything that can even tenuously be declared as a business cost, ranging from laptops and luxury German cars to fresh lobsters and 5* hotel rooms is subtracted from my profits instead of paying 52% income tax. Seems to me those Greek Porsche owners are rather like contractors. I bet they work harder though
