Walked right into that one ... notice period

Notice period has always been 1 month on my gig and my renewal paperwork came thorugh to take me up to the end of the year with the same ...

I get a call yesterday from <agent> who tells me client co now want all contracts to have 10 day notice periods.

"Ok" says I, "No worries". Change to contract accepted.

This morning I get a call from the TM ......

"We're giving you your 10 days notice today".

So, your renewal starts after 23rd December.

          What's the problem?

So this is a renewal with the 10 day clause? Or an existing contract that has been amended?
My contracts have a clause in them that clearly state any changes must be presented in writing, and agreed in writing by the a director from both companies, and these changes have a notice period from which that cannot come into force until that notice period has elapsed.

            Or something like this

Renewal started from today to run till 23rd December.

Initially the renewal contained a 1 month notice period.

I agreed a change of notice to 10 days.

Next day Client Co gives me 10 days notice.

I'm out on the 15th November.
