The Facts and Fiction on Global Warming

    ExxonMobil statement

The earth has experienced a warming trend in global surface air temperatures during the twentieth century, but the cause of this trend and whether it is abnormal remain in dispute. Although recent temperatures are elevated, they are not unprecedented in the geological record, which shows considerable variation as well as previous periods that were as warm as or warmer than today.

Global warming is a myth propagated by a bunch of anti-progress, anti-industrial, anti-capital, left-overs-from-the-failure-of-communism gits.

But there're lots of research grants requiring the purchase of serious hardware to crunch numbers, so I'm all in favour of it.

        Typical greenpeace misdirection.

The quote states that we know it is happening, the question is: "is it a man made disaster or an entirely natural process".
Prove that picture would not have occured anyway!

We often hear "highest flood level in 200 years" and similar so what caused it 200 years ago and as emmissions have gone up year on year why wasnt it just the highest level since last year? Other questions causes and effects too.

I dont doubt we are guilty, but I dont subscribe to the entire argument.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

          Spurious logic.

Your implication is that the last time it flooded this high was 200 years ago when in fact the statment is that it has not flooded this high at any time in the previous 200 years. It could have flooded almost as high last year and still been the highest for 200 years this year.

Glad that you discerned the fiction from fact, I wonder if Greenpeace could now be classified as a Terrorist organisation under the Dangerous Organised Criminal Act along with the anti smoking socialists and the moaning neer do wells.

Total crap. Global warming is a certainty. I can't be bothered with this argument yet again (it's on my blog somewhere) but in 200 years I will pop up and say I told you so.

                  Scoff all you like

Last summer I went on a trip to the Galapagos Islands, my first trip back in 12 years. In spite of it being a national park I was shocked by the change, there was far less wildlife and the reefs were almost barren. Similarly when trekking in the Himalayas in 1996, I was working with maps about ten years old but most glaciers had retreated alarmingly (many were very unstable) and many routes had become very difficult due to land-slide. I've seen enough in my life of travelling to convince me that its happening but I do agree that the models are badly flawed and leftist political hysteria doesn't help one bit as exaggeration discredits the arguments.

                  As usual, we're all doomed.

Back in the early 10th Century the world suffered a massive climatic disaster (famin and disease on a world scale) and you know what the cause of this disaster was?

No it wasnt caused by Lord Boltanshaw driving his W12 Bently to the local corner diary...BUT...the disaster was caused by Volcanic activity!
