Sent money to wife overseas...can claim as expenses?

My wife is of French nationality, I have sent her around 2k this year, thru a wire transfer

Where do I stand with expenses?

    Cheers

    Claim it.

Actually, claim £5k - there's no proof that it's not a valid business expense.

Why only 5k? As far as I am aware if you can put just the term 'Wife' in as an expense entry and claim up to a max of 20K a year without needing receipts.

Everyone knows a wife is a money sucking expense so your accountant and HMRC will be fine with it.

      Fill your boots IMO.

OK, on the off chance you are not a sockie - you stand nowhere with expenses - it is not an expense

I think Lisa might be right.

Unless of course, you use your wife wholly and exclusively for business purposes ......

I really think this thread needs a wider, more creative audience. Moved to General.

2k? Let me see; that's one posh handbag, two pairs of shoes and a bottle of perfume.

You'll need to spend more than that if you want her to go down more than once a year.
