    Insurance against HMRC investigation

Does anyone have Insurance against HMRC investigation? cost?

Are HMRC becoming more aggressive with 'small business' ?

Any accountants out there to give an opinion?

Join the PCG (www.pcg.org.uk). £220 "Plus" membership* covers everything you're likely to need, with extras. Sorted

No, but they are working on who they target. The risk is actually dropping if you know what you're doing.

Lots. Join the PCG, do what they say, stop worrying about it.

HTH (and can you see a theme developing...?)

*Actually it's not insurance, they cover the cost of representing their members. End result is the same though.

We have noticed the HMRC are much more aggressive in collecting tax that is due, but have not noticed any increase in compliance visits - if anything they seem to be reducing. I think malvolio has a point that if you know what you are doing, the risk is probably dropping. We have more case law now on IR35 and S660. Tax planning is easier when the goal posts stay still. The article we did on CUK also has some info on this - How to minimise your chances of being investigated :: Contractor UK

And sometimes you will find the really good accountants provide free tax investigation cover for all clients
