Looks like it is all kicking off in Russia with massive protests against the recent election results.

Some media comments that a civil war could be brewing.

If a civil war commences what could be the consequences for the UK?

Energy prices are sure to sky rocket. Plenty of russians will head to mainland Europe to escape the war.

Looks like there was plenty of election result rigging too. The link here suggests that in Chechnya there was a turnout of 99.51% and the United Russia got a mandate of 99.48% ! WTF ? How blatant can it be ?

For me as a Russophile this a good thing, Russian people are A1, about time they kicked off and complained, there is stuff going on in the Urals, sort of nothing ever happens backwater, unprecedented...

That can't be right surely - When the Labour government spurned nuclear energy and agreed that big gas deal with Russia they assured us our energy supply would be secure for 30 years or more!

Russian protesters have been estimated at 20,000 out of a population of 142,000,000. In recent years the UK has had protests of 500,000 with zero new coverage from the BBC. Even the 2,000,000 + anti war protest was played down by the BBC and a few days later the BBC falsely claimed that 500,000 people welcomed back the England rugby team in order to falsely portray that more people welcomed the rugby team that went on the protest.

Obviously there are protests and arrests in Russia but the BBC is playing on it and has mixed achieved film of the Russian Army that has nothing to do with the current situation. Fox News has even gone further by showing footage of the Greek riots in Athens claiming it is Moscow. (Thick Americans can not differentiate the difference in the Russian and Greek alphabet)

I don't think it is in BBC charter funded by UK taxpayers to get into US elections issue that went to court - at the time I was able to read all about it in UK newspapers and online.

That pretty much what Putin says, not suprised to hear same words from your mouth.

Majority of Russian population does not live in Moscow and authorities did their best to minimise number of people going - all previous demos were very harshly handled by police, it's common to get arrested for 15 days (effetive imprisonment as it was in Soviet era) on false pretenses.

Risk of losing a job for being involved in those demos is very high, getting criminal record to and generally risk to health is more than zero - it's very easy to go on a demo in this country as it carries no real risk.
