    Accenture?

Any good or bad stories about Accenture Consulting?

I've been offered a long role with them but their HR will only offer 3 month contracts at a time. One of their guys said this was a pain but normal for Accenture.

Rate is good. Client is good. I'm happy with it just interested in others opinions.

Haven't worked for them myself but have worked for similar. For me it's about the project as that's what you'll spend your days doing and the rate.

The 3 month initial contract is pretty much the norm but you may get longer extensions once you're in.

    Congrats on the role BTW!

As ever, the stories dont mater it is personal experience that counts.

I think they are comonly known as Accent Manure in these parts so you might want to be on your toes when dealing with them.
They changed their name from something which had developed a realy bad reputation and I can't for the life of me remember what it was.

        They were Andersons.

I think they changed cos it was getting embarrassing for them when their graduate fast-track consultants were advising businesses on process, shortly followed by the Andersons audit team going to the same business and saying "They told you to do WHAT?!?"

I wish I could get a job with Accenture.

Then again I have heard horror stories of the hours worked by some of their employees.

I once was on a contract, where I was working alongside a "Data warehouse specialist" Accenture consultant ,who was boasting about the fact that he was earning mega bucks, and how he had a masters from Imperial college. The funny thing was he as really crap at basic IT ..and yet he got where he is today..

Not quite true - Andersen Consulting split from Arthur Andersen in 1989, the two companies were bitter rivals for most of the 90's - but when Arthur Andersen moved back into consultancy (far more profitable than audit) AC went to court, which resulted in a payment being made to AA from AC, and AC had to change the name to Accenture. In hindsight, a good move for Accenture given AA's subsequent troubles. Most of the AA people in the UK are now with Deloitte.

Yep the hours will be long. 12 hour days the norm, some more than that. But its rewarded (allegedly).

I've contracted for 13 years and worked at IBM amongst others but never Accenture.

I just noticed you mentioning the 'three month' initial contract - I've been offered a six month one but the contract I've been shown says three months - and I've been told that this is just down to the way the end client handles purchase order .... is this a load of cobblers?

Contracts are like ronseal. They do exactly what they say on the paper.

3 months Vs 6 is irrelevant as you'll be on a weeks notice anyway. Depending on the project/industry/role you should be able to get a feel for whether it's 3 months work or not.
