    Is this inappropriate?

Had a meeting with one of my users earlier.

She's had a new hairdo so I said "I like your hair, it really suits you".

An awkward atmosphere then descended on the room. Not so much anything to do with her but the other people in the meeting.

Was this really an inappropriate thing to say?

Dont worry about it, equality in the workplace doesnt exist for contractors... had you been permie, you would have had to complement everyone on their hair so as not to seem bias.
Ask her if the collar matches the cuffs - that might get you a different reaction

Were you describing her merkin? If so probably and you really should stop taking webcam shots in the toilets

Totally inappropriate unless you know her well personally.

Depends, I'm forever doing it, some seem to like it, others are confused. Haven't had any complaints yet. I have worked with most of the people for 8 years.
But then I comment on both sexes and it isn't sexually motivated.
I hope they have the courage to do the same the other way.
Well many do when I'm in my lycra

If you had commented on her pubic hair it wouldn't have been a problem.

And as Jeff Ross says, never apologize, never!
<Insert idea here> will never be adopted because the politicians are in the pockets of the banks!
