Last time we went, we stayed at the Marriott Brooklyn Bridge, which wasn't too expensive. Booked it through Expedia.

It's now an expensive city. Better off going to Las Vegas, cheaper and better hotels, entertainment, warmer and safer.

The view of the Empire State Building from Las Vegas isn't quite so good, though.

I like NY, but I prefer Philly or DC to be honest (not that I've been to Philly in a long time). Philadelphia also has direct flights from Manchester, which is nice.

I guess it depends what you want from the trip, really.

Ahh yes the New York, New York casino on the strip You even get a rollercoaster thrown in as well which is a giggle.

As far as NY hotels are concerned I would try and stay in Brooklyn or even in New Jersey and get the subway into Manhattan.

stayed in the Novotel a few years ago on my stag, perfectly comfortable hotel, 1 block from times sq it was around £120 per night back then, you won't get anything decent for less then £100 p/n

ultimately in NY you're walking all day so you just need a comfortable bed and shower

                That.

Anymore time spent in the hotel is missing the point of the trip.

We went in February a few years ago, stayed in the sofitel. Luxurious, quiet, warm (you want warm in February) safe and amazing diner on the ground floor for breakfast.

I stayed at the "New Yorker" hotel when I visited a few years back. Good central position and reasonably priced. The (33rd floor) room wasn't anything to shout about but was comfortable and as others have said you're there to see the city, not a hotel room.

Quick search showed rooms available in Feb for £108 per night.
It's about time I changed this sig...
