Well that's saved a shedload of cash.

BBC News - Avtar and Carole Kolar murder accused dies in prison

I'm reminded of the murderer* who lived up the hill from me.

Did 10 years then hanged himself 6 months before release.

    The barsteward.

Think of the money we could have saved if he'd done it on remand.

*Nice chap. Hit his gf on the head with a hammer & drove around with her in the boot of his car for a couple of days. She wasn't quite dead when he put in there though. And the **** nearly ran me over whilst he was doing it.

I can't say I'm in favour of the death penalty, but why don't they put a rope in every cell?

Because all the feckers would try to escape.

What like in cowboy films, where you twist a rope with a stick and bend the prison bars?

I thought you had to piss on it as well.

Only when you use your shirt, though I think Myth Busters busted that one.

Maybe the occasional person in prison is innocent?

Though I am touched by your faith in the justice system.

                    AKA Spanish windlass

Only works if the bars are long, and "standalone" rather than fixed with cross bars in a chequerboard pattern
