    Moving to Freeview

Been with Virgin for a number of year and frankly they become more and more expensive each year. Got a couple of set boxes, movies etc and coupled with broadband & phone it's about £115 per month which frankly I think is a joke especially as I watch feck all.

My area moves to freeview in the next few weeks. Has anyone got any recommendations on pause & record style boxes for Freeview that Virgin and Sky provide?

I pay £58 rising to £61 for a phone, broadband and all the non Sky premium packages. I think a second set top box is a £5. Bin the movies and the sports and see what that saves you.

Looking at their site it seems that I'm paying £29 for the TV I don't really watch. That will be going and being replaced with Sky so that I can watch F1 next year.

          Who needs Branson / Murdoch.

          20 - £80 Freeview

          £80 - £500 freeview HD box.

          10 mins to install.
May need a new aerial though.
about 30 channels worth watching > 300 plus available.

          £80 - £200 freesat HD box.
Including dish, min couple of hours to install dish and run cables.

about 50 channels worth watching > 1000 available but I get bored with the God channel etc but the wedding channel is fun.

Note try threatening to leave and see what deals you get (may get same as new users for a year).

£1400 a year for watching feck all

Don't have a TV (well actually I have two but are in the BTL's), don't use a TV at home anymore these days. Too busy invoicing.

You want a freeview+ HD box. I have a Samsung with built in Blu Ray player. Check your box has 2 tuners so you can watch one and record another (or record 2 and watch Blu Ray). If you record a lot then obviously a bigger disk is preferable.

**Assumes you already have a HD TV.

Humax every time. And buy it from Humax Direct online. The best delivery and customer service I have received online, bar none.
