IT jobs agency warns against online rants

A temporary IT jobs specialist fears candidates are harming their prospects by sharing their gripes and groans online, even if their rant is nothing to do with the workplace.

Having polled 1,000 job-seekers, Computer People said it could be “career-limiting” if they post comments about receiving poor customer service from, say, an online retailer or call centre.
May I quote the following again? I believe it covers nicely the moral cowardice of being scared to complain about, say, poor customer service, in case some HR jerk thinks later that makes you look like a complainer.

Reject these attitudes. Reject the values and false morality that underlie these attitudes. A rat race is for rats. We're not rats. We're human beings. Reject the insidious pressures in society that would blunt your critical faculties to all that is happening around you, that would caution silence in the face of injustice lest you jeopardise your chances of promotion and self-advancement. This is how it starts, and before you know where you are, you're a fully paid-up member of the rat-pack. The price is too high. It entails the loss of your dignity and human spirit. Or as Christ put it, "What doth it profit a man if he gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul?"

Depends on what I could sell it for really?

Computer People as well! The pinnacle of ethics, fair practice and integrity.

I wouldn't touch them with yours...

Of course a cynic might describe this "poll" by Computer People as a Ryanair-to-charge-for-the-toilet sort of wheeze, i.e. a load of bullocks that gets them some free publicity.

Good thing that internal HR has nothing to do with contractors then.

Remind me not to apply for a job using my real name as shown here. Signed, I. Fatuus.
