    Got money to burn?

Perhaps that lottery couple from Largs would go for this

    • A communication arrives from a parallel universe where there is no credit crunch, no liquidity crisis and no recession. An aviation industry veteran is opening what is claimed to be the first high street outlet where you can buy an executive jet. The Jet Business showroom at One Grosvenor Place (no ordinary high street shop) features a mock-up of the interior of an Airbus A319 — $80 million to you.

Steve Varsano, who set up the business, says customers can look at various aircraft on display screens and work out which fit their personal profiles. “There are many new buyers out there,” he says. It’s another world, isn’t it?

Our favourite Irish motormouth is at it again. Michael O’Leary is not a popular man in Spain; he gave a victory sign in front of about 30 Spanair staff at Bilbao after Ryanair won a slot there as a result of the Spanish airline going out of business.

Mr O’Leary needed a police escort as the workers tried to vent their fury after he appeared to gloat over their misfortune. To be fair, Ryanair did offer them jobs, though none accepted. The Irish diplomatic service’s loss is the air industry’s gain.
