    Irans Big Nuclear News

Iran to unveil 'great nuclear achievements

Iran's President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, says "great" nuclear achievements will be announced in the next few days.
Will it be enough to get the Israeli F15 & 16s airborne?
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

A nuclear test is good because it would mean that on one hand Iran really wanted to get nuclear weapons and on another hand they'll have one less nuke...

btw F-16 are short range fighters...

Its a no-win situation for us.

If the Israelis bomb Iran, they will first have to fly right across Iraq.

Do we shoot them down, or do we let them through and face the anger of the entire Muslim world?

F15s escorted F16s for the 1981 attack on the Iraqi Osirak reactor, neither required refueling

Planes? I didn't see any planes??

You can't fart without angering the Muslim world.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

            1) Israel to Iraq miles: 549.78

Distance between Iraq iraq and Israel israel

            2) Israel to Iraq miles: 1070.79

Distance between Iran iran and Israel israel

Big difference especially considering direct routes might not be possible in Iran's case.

No UK forces in Iraq and no US air force there - it's basically problem of Iraq air defence which was obliterated during GW2.

Maybe, but I still don't like the look of it. Too many blocs and alliances all rubbing-up against each other in the same 'hotspot'.

I don't think we are looking at World War 3, but it could escalate into something really nasty.

Although they do not confirm nor deny, Israel probably has more nuclear warheads on stock than the UK. Once Iran detonates a device, then it becomes a legitimate target for nuclear weapons under the rules of warfare.

That wasn't your point which was that F16 are short range fighters
Undoubtedly they would have to refuel in international airspace which would make it tricky but since F16i were actually flown over from the States with a pit stop in the Azores the range is within operational envelopes
Also the bombing of the Tunis PLO headquarters in 1985 involved a round trip of 2600 miles (albeit involving only F15s) demonstrated they can do the logistics
