        That's nowhere near the most ridiculous rate. For a freelancer, £20/hr isn't bad. And what they want sounds pretty unspecialised... mucking about in PHP to customise a CMS probably.
        Maybe a new graduate could get it.

            Better than the rate I started contracting on, which was only £15/hr.

            Though I only used it to get experience in M$ to move away from the Unix stuff they originally got me in for, which lined me up nicely for the .Net gravy train that arrived a few years later.

            So a low rate is sometimes worth considering if the role involves some degree of on the job re-skilling.

                  No point whatsoever being a contractor at such insulting rates. IMO need a daily rate of £350+ to justify contracting.
