Need help with a Heavy Metal playlist.

    Right Chaps,

I've been tasked to collate a heavy metal playlist (middling, not Thrash or Death - something that won't make the partygoers ears bleed.)

My own playlist is limited to Deep Purple, Metallica but there'smore out there than that.

    All ideas welcome!

Do they really mean heavy metal or just simply rock?

    Black Sabbath. Paranoid.
Thin Lizzy. Boys are Back in Town.
    Led Zep. Rock n Roll.
Iron Maiden. Run to the Hills.
Judas Priest. Head out to the Highway.
    Saxon. Strangers in the Night
    Motorhead. Ace of Spades.

    Bon Jovi, Status Quo, Kiss.
    Just saying like.

I could agree with you, but then we would both be wrong!

Add in a bit of Korn (check out Follow the Leader for a couple of well known songs), and some Guns n' Roses for an 80s throwback (everyone loves a bit of Sweet Child o' Mine or Paradise City!). Linken Park are good for more recent and mainstream songs.

What age group are you aiming at?

I think Kiss is the light end.

Bon Jovi and Status Quo would be met with a stony silence...

                How about....

                Alice Cooper
                Coal Chamber - quite heavy
Def Leppard - oldies but goodies, if you have a 30+ crowd
Faith No More - Epic is fab
                Feeder
                Marylin Manson
Megadeth - another for the older crowd, same as Skid Row
My Chemical Romance - I'm not OK, Helena (a bit Emo, but ok)
                Nine Inch Nails
Nirvana - a bit of teen spirit!
Slipknot - they have one or two that wouldn't be classed as thrash/death
                System of a Down

That's the heavier side of my ipod!

Edit - if he's 40 then Megadeth, Skid Row, Def Leppard and Faith No More will probably bring back memories of teenage years!
