      That's what I thought - a car on rubber tyres is effectively a Faraday cage.

          I ran my parents Allegro into a telegraph pole in a dark wet car park back when I was 17/18, no damage to me but the car was written off. What a blessing, Allegros were dire cars.
          Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.
