    Probably not.

Mr C was very firmly put in his place by a militant veggie was he tried to serve her a quorn 'meat' pie.

I tried to tell him that it wasn't the done thing to do, but in his eyes because it didn't contain meat it would be fine.

If they don't eat animals because of ethical reasons I don't see why not...

My wife is veggie, we have our own names for quorn products:

        Quorn Bacon = Fakon
        Quorn Ham = Sham
        Quorn Chicken = Mockadoodledoo
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Tell me, why do veggies eat meat substitutes? OK, I know they need all the same nutrients as the rest of us, but if they don't want meat, why should they want some kind of fake meat?

Why not just eat lots of varied veg if you're a veggie?

Exactly, why have quorn shaped like a lamb chop, or a sausage or whatever?

Why not come up with some new "Quorn" shaped items.

Quorn is high in Protein and lacks in flavour in its natural form. By making it into fake mince or fake ham or fake chicken (or variations there of) adds flavour and variety. We don't eat fake mince, fake ham or fake variations there off in order to experience what meat tastes like. Veg offers what we need for Carbs, but lacks the necessary protein we need to survive.

Yep, but grain, spuds, beans and pulses contain protein.

One good reason, which will contradict my last answer, Quorn shaped as meat is currently being promoted towards meat eaters who are looking for low fat / carb alternative.

Veggies seem to split fairly evenly between those who disapprove of the idea of eating meat full-stop, and those who simply object to the fact animals are brought up and killed just to eat.

Of course, this new stuff will lead to an entirely new group including vegetarians AND meat-eaters, who refuse to eat 'unnatural' food.

I wonder if this could be one of the major changes that happens in our lifetimes.
