    Hints when designing printers

    It's no use designing a printer that spews out double-sided sheets like a gatling gun once it gets going, but spends 10 minutes "recalibrating" each time one tries to print a single paged text file.

    That thing would often jam when you tried to start a job. Once you got the first sheet through it would happily clack away for dozens of pages without any fuss.

    When it came to a couple of sheets however, it seemed to know that the last post collection of the day was within an hour, and do its very best to make sure you missed it.

    I used to do invoices first thing in the morning or even the day before with that beast.
