    San Francisco/LA Trip

Decided on LA/SF trip in mid April, anyone been or have any tips or places to go. Will start in SF for 4 days then 4 days in LA.

I might use the trip as the opportunity to buy my Apple kit there, is there a limit on what you can buy?

Fisherman's Wharf is quite a lively place to go, nice seafood restaurants etc

        And Alcatraz.

Last went 10 years ago though.

I blasted through last year on my way to Alaska. Stayed for 35 minutes taking photos of the bridge and Alcatraz through the mist.

what a waste of thirty minutes

He's a better itinery for you.

            Fly LHR-LAX
            Pick up car at LAX
Leave the city of LA as soon as possible.
Drive to Vegas (option of going via Joshua and Mojave national parks are nice).
            Visit Grand Canyon from Vegas
            Visit Hoover Dam from Vegas
Drive to Yosemite via Death Valley
            Drive to SF
            Spend a few days here
            Go home

LA is a dump, California is a beautiful beautiful state and needs much exploring.

            Route suggestion

That's far too ambitious a schedule.

                My tips would be:
                - visit Alcatraz, especially if you can get a dusk visit
                - make sure to drive from SF->LA on HWY1, give yourself lots of time for it
                - dunno about LA city, but Venice is worth a visit
