You need to use CUK Official as a prefix in your thread title to annoy AtW

My budget for 2012 includes a fishing holiday. I need somewhere that the family will be entertained and where I can do a Robson Green impersonation.

      Any ideas

Do you prefer top-down budgeting or bottom up?

This is what is 'known' so far:

50% rate to reduce to 45% in April 2013
Tax free allowance to increase to £9,000ish in April 2013 (I'll be listening out for whether the 40% threshold reduces by the same amount)
SDLT to increase to 7% for property > £2m
Fuel duty rises 3p in August
Income at which child benefit is scrapped raised to £50k
It's about time I changed this sig...

we're getting rid of one car and might even two. leaving just the vintage morris to rely on. I'm looking around for a bicycle in the meantime...times are tough we're having to cut costs everywhere.

Too little too late? If such a high rate of "super tax" is causing the rich to pay less tax due to avoidance, then surely, the sooner the rate is reduced, the better?
