Stunned at the price of a book...

We are presumably all used to the ridiculous price of computing tomes... well here's a book with a price that is truly astronomical... and it's second hand at that...

Snelling, E.C. 'Soft Ferrites Properties and Applications', 2nd. Edit., Butterworths, ISBN 0-408-02760-6.

Not about computing, but all about those boring ferrite transformer thingies...

Available from an Amazon near you at a mere £430...

    Yes. £430.00, not £43.00 or £4.30, but £430.00.

I sit here amazed & horrified.

And I always used to think "An Atlas Of Functions" was expensive. Does it have nice colour pictures?

I've seen similar books - particuarly Microelectronics texts and "Free Energy" crap books that change hands for lots of money.

Talking of which, anyone know where I can get a copy of "Electronic Synthesizer Construction" by R.A.Penfold (good old Babani electronics book I used to have but lost). Can't get it anywhere

Well, working as I do in edjukashun, it transpires that the Septics are or have reprinted this worthy tome and since, as I mentioned, I'm in edjukashun, I can get it for $100... plus postage, packing, airfreight and insurace of $200.

Anyone ever heard of Artech House?

They do print to order on some of their more obscure tomes... which must be why they are £100 each.

Have you tried any of the book dealer websites?

Yeah I got a quote for £120. Not bad for an old £1.99 paperback!

Hey! I wonder if the other Babani books are worth that much. Not done electronics for yonks but still got them all tucked away in the shed.

PS That was a bit silly mentioning the price. If one of us had got it I daresay we WOULD have given you a worthless old book for the cost of the postage.
