Hardly any short people, 4 foot or so, can pass a GCSE, and people a foot or so tall usually have trouble even tying their shoe laces properly.

What about reducing size/mass by removing unnecessary appendages like limbs? That must reduce the resources needed. In fact if we engineer everyone to be a dwarf without legs, we're on to a winner.

Being cold blooded is the way forward for huge calorie savings. Not sure this is compatible with high intelligence though, unless the brain is large enough to heat the body by the power of thought, e.g. by solving Einstein's field equations without pen or paper.
