A computer expert who hacked into his firm's IT system after he was suspended in a row over joke emails has been fined £2,000.

Daniel B, 41, accessed the staff email system at energy giant EDF's trading division the night after he had been suspended for making 'inappropriate communications'.

After a nine hour drinking session the systems architect went home and used his personal security fob and Hotmail address to gain access to the system October 27, 2010.

I was once suspended on my last day working for a Local Govt organisation after sending out a goodbye email which the Director of IS took objection to, they marched me off the premises and tried to instigate a disciplinary procedure after they had already given my reference to my new company

I was at Chase in 1997 (prior to merger with JPM) when they decided to sack a trader. They found joke emails on his pc which gave them the excuse. Then someone pointed out it looked like picking on him - so they checked everyone's pc. 10% had "dodgy" emails and merited first verbal warning, first written wearning or final written warning from HR.

Some were charged with pornographic offences - they had to get lawyers in to fight their case!

We were once asked to look at Porn sites (in the late 90's) to see where we thought direction t'internet was going, as at the time, porn sites were the most advanced and the company was moving into Web Based applications.

          Lots of fun.

I was once fired for making hardcore porn movies in the server room, cutting them on my machine and then running a porn business from a machine under the desk. I made a fortune.

Were you at a comms company in or near Norfolk at the time?

There was a very interesting EBAY business discovered around 2006 and it sounds familiar
