    Hebrew...

...has anyone else noticed that a perfectly reasonable friendly discussion in Hebrew sounds like a full on fists ready about to scrap argument to the non Hebrew speaking gentiles amongst the team?

BTW, does anyone who visits this forum speak Hebrew? Apart from Threaded of course, he invented the language!

I dont speak Hebrew but I know many Israelis and I think its more about the culture than the language. The Israelis are generally very passionate and direct and dont imply much in general communication they just say it.

The communication style reflects this and tf normal banter among friends can sound like the runup to WW3.

    INHO anyway

You could say the same about Italians.... dont speak the language but my dad does and we used to spend a lot of time there. (ah, Patrizia and Tizziana, my first exposure to topless sunbathers - I was 11, they were 17 - I grew up fast )

Anything you say sounds like you are either:

      1) Declaring that you are about to invade another country to avenge an insult made against your mother.

      2) Declaring undying love to the waitress who just served you a cappucino. In order to demonstate this love, you are about to invade another country.

      3) In mourning because your football team lost, and you intend to invade another country as a symbolic gesture of defiance.

      4) Are about to come. And when you have finished acting like a spent salmon, you will invade another country.

Atw, have really posted that many times? 8o

My flatmate is working in St Petersburg... she says the women are beautiful but distant. The married men are very, very friendly to her, though.

She is a seriously cute 34D, so I suppose that explains it all. Women in shops have even asked her if her breasts are real!

By the way, I seem to remember you being an honourable gent some time ago and making a donation to charity over a bet we had. I appreciate that - unfortunately I am in the early stages of the condition that the charity I asked you to donate to specialises in. Ironic, really

This is really sad to hear

Surely if its an early condition then you have good chances of recovery? I certainly hope so!

I never been to St Petersburg, but its meant to be good, in summer that is -- long white nights, but very cold in winter.

What really pisses me right now is that fecking war in Iraq now costing close to $400 bln, the amount surely enough to have a fecking breakthrough in cancer R&D. :rolleyes

                  betting

I was never into betting -- I don't bet in principle, I was just foolishly using "I bet XXX" as figure of speech, however I was wrong and you had a point about bets being thing of honour in this country. My honour is worth more than £100.

Not sure what I would have done if it was £1000 at stake

                    Oi AtW...

Talking to Palestinians? Don't think I've met any yet.

It's amazing how many doors mentioning who I'm working with over here opens...
