SJD Accountancy - charging me a year's fees to prepare final accounts

    RESOLVED:

Thanks for all the feedback. It turned out to be my misunderstanding.

Having already paid my monthly fees up to my company year end, 30 April, I've been informed there are no further fees to process the final accounts.
After which I'll keep my company dormant for a while.

    That's better!

I just informed SJD Accountancy that I'm looking to leave SJD and make my limited company dormant as I only worked a couple of contracts in 2011. The last job I did was in September.

I'm quite shocked at SJD's response that I'm required to pay a whole year's fees to prepare the final accounts documents:

If the company traded part way through the yearend then full 12 months fees will apply for SJD.
My company year end is 30 April and I pay a monthly fee of £126.

SJD claim to have no entry or exit fees but this seems like a very hefty exit fee. I'd appreciate anybody's opinions...

I thought we had done this one already? Let me go look. I didn't think it was a monthly fee though. I thought it was 1/12th of the years payment for the service. Back in a sec.

Accounts have to be done for the financial year, same amount of work, even if you were active for only 6 months.

At least you've found this out now, and not in a month's time, when you might have been clobbered for another year.

Although it feels unfair, I think it's quite fair, if you look at it from their POV.

All one the same question. No good news in them for you though.

                  Hi,

I'm very sorry to read this complaint; I would suggest you discuss this with the Regional Director firstly.

Please can you PM me or email daniel.mossatsjdaccountancy.com with the name of your accountant and which region you are in. I will happily investigate this for you, speak to your accountant and see if there are any other options that might be available.

                  Thank you

Everyone has jumped on him for the common moan about 1/12 yearly accounts fee per month, when he is actually talking about the closing down of the company.

He has been paying his £126 pcm all year (I assumed) ahead of his end of year April 30th and is now being asked for a whole years fees for company closure.

So slightly different as to what everyone has jumped on him for.

That being said, I have no idea how much my own accountant would charge me to close down my company. A whole years fees perhaps
