How easy (time/hassle) is it to get to/from West Drayton Station or hotels to LHR?
TIA
Pondy.
By car or public transport?
There is a bus and train service that goes from West Drayton to Hayes & Harlington and a bus that goes from Hayes & Harlington to Heathrow, but I don't know if there is a bus that goes from West Drayton to Heathrow. But if you are staying in a hotel near heathrow, there's plenty of buses that go to the airport. Anywhere between Harlington Corner (I think!) to Heathrow is free on the buses. HTH.
If you are planning on going to Terminal 5 by public transport, you will need to get to Southall and get the bus from there. HTH.

Need to get a flight out of LHR at about 10ish on a Monday morning. Looking at the price and hassle (5am) of leaving that morning it might be better to go up the night before and stay local. I'm not driving as it's longhaul and I can't face the drive home after.
So I was thinking train to WD and a night in the Novotel, then taxi in to LHR in the morning.

Workable or PITA?
8-10 on monday morning is horrible. Just forget it. It might be better to stay at a local hotel at heathrow.

The U3 bus goes from West Drayton station to Heathrow Central Bus Station. And the 350 bus goes from West Drayton to Terminal 5. Unless you are carrying lots of luggage, the bus would be cheaper.
Taxi is convenient, as you don't have to worry about where to put your luggage, but can be expensive.... especially in the Heathrow zone.

on a Long Haul flight, one has to get to the airport 3 hours before the flight... so leaving at 6am to get to the airport by 7am should be a piece of cake. (with 30 minutes to spare before checking starts).
