Over lunch a chap said to the table that he was buying a new property and that an IFA was pushing him to undertake a new 'stamp duty' process. The process is based upon 'Sub Sale Relief' and it seems quite a few of these have sprung up.

What is the view of the panel?

It's an obvious 'within the rules' piece of deliberate and active avoidance. However, since it's probably only perpetrated by wealthy Tory party donors, don't expect to see anything done about it.

Why won't you write a letter to Bliar asking why he uses complex network of companies to allegedly hide his earnings?

Don't forget the Prince of Darkness finding £8m quid for his house, probably down the back of a Russians sofa.

Or the ships steward having a nice little house despite knocking off his secretary.

Or El Gordo doing nicely after bankrupting the UK.

Its not just Tories that are lying theiving scum. It just feels really dirty when Labour screw the electorate by taking directorships and avoiding despite spending 13 years 'fighting for the underdog' and moaning about the duplicitous tax evoiders.

There is no acceptable process in existence to effectively and legitimately avoid or reduce SDLT, some very ropey ones but you will not find them being endorsed or recomended by any respectable tax lawyer.

Most of the hype about SDLT avoidance that George loves to go on about comes when the property is sold on having been bought by an offshore company in the first instance. The shares of the company are transferred so there is no change of ownership with land registry and no SDLT to pay.
