Anyone use the 2nd Severn crossing regularly?

When I use the new automated credit/debit card lanes I'm sure I can hear coins dropping as the payment is accepted.

There must be hopper inside dropping coins to activate the barrier, bonkers.

    Wilmslowesque I know.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

The method used is based on your avatar GJ.

There's a small ginger bloke from the westcountry inside the 'machinery' who writes your CC details down and drops the coins in.

Nah it would be a small Welsh bloke, the Tafia wouldn't want an outsider operating their racket.

That's true for the 2nd crossing as the tolls are on the Welsh side. The old one use a small west country bloke but as the payment processing has been outsourced he has to shout the CC numbers into a tin can that connects via a bit of damp string to one in India where the payment is processed and then gives the thumbs up to the bloke in the booth when he hears back that it's been approved.

Listen carefully and you'll hear him... "No! Oi sed 1!"
